The Future of Speed: Inside Nike’s Street-Style Speed Run
We celebrated speed within football culture in a futuristic, Blade Runner-esque environment.
The question behind our recent Nike Speed Run, in collaboration with Sport Chek, was: “Can we celebrate pace, and can we create a futuristic, street-inspired event designed to challenge athletes beyond the traditional training environment?”
Athletes stepped into an experience where speed, skill, and competition collided. The event featured a timed 30-metre sprint alongside a technical skill challenge, creating an atmosphere that celebrated both athleticism and creativity. Every run was an opportunity to compete, push limits, and embrace the energy that has always been at the heart of football culture.
The event wasn’t just about posting the fastest time. It was about creating an environment where athletes could express themselves while experiencing the standards required to perform at the highest level.
One of the highlights of the day was welcoming Olivia Smith, Canadian National Team and Arsenal forward.
Field Check With Arsenal’s Olivia Smith
Olivia Smith is an OG of the 180° program and helped set the tempo and standard for athletes to come. Watching her journey from developing within our environment to becoming one of the world’s top young footballers reminds every athlete that elite performance begins long before the spotlight. Her willingness to spend time with participants, answer questions, and encourage the next generation reinforced what high performance is really about: giving back to the community that helped shape you.
At 180° High Performance, we believe speed is more than a number on a stopwatch. It’s the product of efficient movement, quality preparation, confidence, and consistency. Events like this allow athletes to test themselves in a competitive setting while celebrating the culture surrounding the game.
None of this happens without collaboration. A huge thank you to Nike for trusting us to help bring this vision to life and for continuing to invest in experiences that inspire young athletes beyond the pitch.
The future of football won’t only be defined by the professionals competing on the world’s biggest stages; it will be shaped by the environments we create for the next generation today.
If this event was any indication, the future is moving fast.
